Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.

THE CHALLENGE

2.Wisdom Strengthens Relationships

“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

Proverbs 19:4

“Wealth attracts many friends, but even the closest friend of the poor person deserts them.”

3.Wisdom Guides Our Words

Proverbs 18:21

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

James 3:5-6

The tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body.

Proverbs 15:4

The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.

John 6:63

The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Before you speak, ask yourself:

James 1:5

If you any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault.
