Big Idea:
- Every test has a purpose, and God has already given us the answers.
You don’t have to panic — it’s an open-book test.
The 3 P’s: Pain, Purpose, and Presence
Point #1: Testing Hurts (Pain)
1 Peter 1:6–7 – Trials refine the genuineness of your faith.
Luke 22:42–44 – Jesus’ agony in Gethsemane shows God understands our pain.
- Life’s tests bring discomfort, fear, and sleepless nights, but no pain, no gain.
- God allows pain to shape and refine us.
Point #2: Testing Builds Character (Purpose)
Romans 5:3–4 – Suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope.
James 1:3 – The testing of faith produces perseverance.
God never tests randomly; every trial is intentional.
Like an open-book test, He’s already given us the answers: His Word, His Spirit, His people.
Point #3: God is Always With Us (Present)
Deuteronomy 31:6 – He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Isaiah 43:2 – When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.
Even when it feels like the teacher left the room, God is near.
The test isn’t a trap — it’s a stage for God’s presence and power to show up.
Point # 4: The Reward After the Test (Promise)
James 1:12 – Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial and receives the crown of life.
- God’s promise is the reward for perseverance.
- Pain shapes you. Purpose strengthens you. God is present through it all.
- The crown of life awaits those who endure.
Reflection / Application:
What test are you in right now?
Where do you feel pain, discomfort, or fear?
Remember: Your trial is not your tomb — it’s your training.
