- This series is about the study of the Holy Spirit or Pneumatology. “The formal name for the study of the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit is derived from the Greek word pneuma which means breath or spirit.” (Tony Evans Bible Commentary)
- A Conscious Dependence on the Holy Spirit- One of the Affirmation of the ECC

THE BIG QUESTION: Why is the Holy Spirit important for the Christian?

1. The Holy Spirit provides an experience of God.

John 15:26-27
Both Christ and the Holy Spirit are persons (expressions) of God (part of the Trinity) and sent by God (The Father). Review- The Holy Spirit is an Advocate and Counselor.
Experiencing God in a World of Suffering. Bringing Oppressed People an Experience of God. Experience God thru the Holy Spirit. Engage with those needing to experience God.

2. The Holy Spirit reveals sin and our true enemy.

John 16:8-11
John 15:18-25
The World Hates God Because It’s Infected with Sin. The Prince of this World (Satan)

3. The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ.

John 16:12-15
John 17:1-5
Glorification- the act of praising, honoring, or elevating something or someone to a position of splendor. Christ glorified in us thru the Holy Spirit. We can’t do this alone.

Final Thought: The Holy Spirit gives peace in the midst of chaos.
