“The Gift of The Holy Spirit”
Pastor Efrem Smith
Big Question of the Sermon: How Is the Holy Spirit a Gift?
1. The Gift of a New Language
- Acts 2:1–13; Isaiah 6:5–7; James 3:3–12; John 1:1–14
- God gives a new voice and a new way of speaking.
- A collective Kingdom language that crosses cultures and breaks barriers.
- Not everyone will understand what God speaks through you—and that’s okay.
- The Spirit cleanses the mouth (Isaiah), tames the tongue (James), and gives Word-filled speech (John 1).
2. The Gift of a New Proclamation
- Acts 2:14–40
- Spirit-filled proclamation upends unjust social orders and structures.
- It boldly presents Christ as Savior and Risen Lord.
- It points people toward repentance with passion and love.
- The Spirit empowers believers to speak truth that transforms hearts.
3. The Gift of a New Community
- Acts 2:41–46
- The Holy Spirit forms a community marked by:
- Fellowship
- Discipleship
- Supernatural works
- Reconciliation
- Worship
- This is a community not built by preference, but built by the Spirit.
Final Thought – The Gift of Spiritual Growth
- Acts 2:47
- Healthy church growth is tied to healthy spiritual growth.
- As people grow in the Spirit, God grows the Church.
- The Spirit doesn’t just add numbers—He transforms lives.
