When the Holy Spirit Goes Public Through You”

Pastor Tyronne Gross Jr.

Biblical Foundation

Acts 10 marks a major turning point in the early church.
Until now, the gospel had primarily spread among Jewish believers. In this chapter, the Holy Spirit pushes the church beyond its familiar boundaries.

We meet Cornelius—a Roman centurion, a Gentile, yet God-fearing, prayerful, and generous. God speaks to him in a vision and tells him to find Peter. Meanwhile, God is preparing Peter in Joppa. Before they ever meet, the Holy Spirit is already working on both sides.

Big Question:

Will we allow the Holy Spirit to keep working on us?

1. The Holy Spirit Challenges What We’re Comfortable With

Acts 10:13–15

  • Some things become so normal culturally that we stop questioning them.
  • The same Spirit who comforts you will also confront you.
  • The Holy Spirit cannot fully lead someone unwilling to move beyond comfort.

2. The Holy Spirit Leads Us Beyond Ourselves

Acts 10:19–20

  • Spirit-led living is uncomfortable—requiring trust, surrender, and dependence.

3. The Holy Spirit Points Us Toward People

(Acts 10:34)

  • Peter’s journey shows the pattern:
  • The Spirit challenged him
  • The Spirit led him beyond himself.
  • The Spirit used him.

FINAL THOUGHT

The Holy Spirit leads us to the one.

Acts 10:44–48, Luke 15:4
