Series- Request Line: Scriptures You Want to Study
“This is All I Have”
Pastor Otis Amey
Biblical Background: This Must be Important!
The BIG Question: Am I ready to surrender ALL I Have to Jesus?
1.) Regular Rhythms of REST Aren’t Optional
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
“It is only when we slow down our lives that we can catch up to God.” – N.T. Wright
Mark 6:30-34
The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.
Mark 6:34
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.
2.) Have Faith in the Baker, Not the Bread
John 6:5-9
When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.
7 Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”
8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, 9 “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
WE HAVE TO LET CHRIST BE THE QUARTERBACK & CALL THE PLAYS.
There’s Two Questions That Must Be Answered:
- Do we believe that what God has given us is enough to accomplish the mission?
- Have we surrendered it ALL back to God?
“If you’re willing, He’s worthy!”
3.) There’s No Overflow Without Surrender
Luke 9:14-17
(About five thousand men were there.)
But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15 The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. 16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. 17 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
