God’s Way: Prioritizing Rest –

Week 1 – Finding a Rest Area

Pastor Tyronne Gross Jr.

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

The challenge in finding time to rest?

Say YES to REST – Because God Rested Too

Genesis 2:1-3 (NIV)

Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.

By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

1.) Rest – Because we need to know God

Matthew 11:25-27 (NIV)

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

2.) Rest – Because the challenges are too much

Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

3.) Rest- Because our souls need healing

Matthew 11:29 (NIV)

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Final ThoughtRest- Because what’s hard for us is easy for God

Matthew 11:30 (NIV)

For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
