Flawed But Called –
Ecclesiastes 1:9
What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.
God has called his people to COURAGE, to JUSTICE & to bring the GOOD NEWS!
Isaiah 43:1-3 NIV
But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom,
Cush and Seba in your stead.
Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
POINT #1: God has always been calling (you and I) to CHOOSE COURAGE (Isaiah 43:1-3)
Daniel 3:27
…and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.
POINT #2 God’s call are called to JUSTICE – this isn’t a new call
Isaiah 1:16-17 NIV
Wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds out of my sight;
stop doing wrong.
17 Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.
Isaiah 58:6-9 NIV
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
Point #3 God is calling you & I to BRING THE GOOD NEWS (Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV)
Genesis 22:18
…and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”
God is calling us to COURAGE — God Is calling us to JUSTICE— Calling us to BRING GOOD NEWS!
